Residents of Taman SPPK in Segambut were still able to enjoy Hari Raya delicacies recently when Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng, together with the Segambut PAS branch, held a joint Hari Raya Open house.
The event,
which kicked off at 3pm, saw several hundred visitors enjoying the array of
food served. Among the delicacies served were lemang, rendang and ketupat.
There were also dishes such as cendol, satay, curry mee and otak-otak.
In the
spirit of the festivity, Segambut PAS members were responsible for the
preparation of the ketupat and lemang, as the team spent the
previous night preparing the dishes. Segambut PAS secretary Wan Shafareen Wan
Abdul Halim said it was something that the team did every year and people
looked forward to it. “We started cooking after the evening prayers the night
before and it was a team effort. Everyone was involved and we are glad that
people enjoyed the food,” said Wan Shafareen. Also
present was Segambut PKR vice-chairman Maswan Darjoh.
Lim, clad
in a deep purple baju Melayu, played host at the event. He said the main
issues in the area were security concerns and traffic congestion due to the
international school in the vicinity. He added the peak hour traffic was bad
and he had a meeting with the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to voice out their
concerns but there had not been any answers yet.
“The
residents want a traffic warden to be placed near the school during peak
hours,” he added. I have raised this issue in Parliament and will wait for the
answers when the Parliament session resumes,” he added.
