Parliament: Government Has No Plans For Independent Ombudsman

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- The government does not propose to set up an independent ombudsman institution as it already has a Public Complaints Bureau to deal with public complaints.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Razali Ibrahim said the government had decided to upgrade the bureau and enhance its effectiveness.
"The bureau has already been instructed to make certain improvements such as a facility to access documents at every ministry, and an integrated mobile counter at public programmes," he said, replying to a question from Lim Lip Eng (DAP-Segambut) at the Dewan Rakyat here Wednesday.
