The 3rd day was nothing short of my expectation. Uncle Kit & I was in Labis, Johor the night before for a DAP dinner. I told party member there I would not expect the Dewan Rakyat’s question time to reach Uncle Kit’s question which was listed no. 5 (mine was no. 52). As it turned out the following day, the Dewan only had time for the first 3 questions.
I attribute what had transpired in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday to the new Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia. He just doesn’t know how to make orders in the August House. If I could recall it well, Pandikar has only made two rulings during the 1 ½ hours question time, the first one was to take into account all punctuation in our future questions in Parliament not to exceed 40 words & the second was to “melupakan” the unruly challenges by Datuk Ibrahim Ali (Ind – Pasir Mas) & Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin (BN – Kinabatangan) to ask Mr Karpal Singh (who’s wheelchair bound) to stand up. I raised a point of order at the end of the 1 ½ hours question time to demand for Ibrahim & Bung Mokhtar to retract their scornful & discriminatory challenge against “orang kurang upaya” like Mr Karpal, unfortunately the Speaker still insisted that we should “melupakan”.
For that, I urge all physically unfit people to publicly protest & demand for an unreserved apology from the Speaker, Ibrahim & Bung Mokhtar.
I also noted from a newspaper report that the new Speaker wishes to act like a father in Dewan Rakyat to all MPs. Pandikar, a father figure to Pakatan Rakyat MPs? That was the first joke in the 12th Parliament.
