Don’t joke, Nor Mohamed Yakcop

Yesterday, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop has called on all agencies to complete all projects under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP) as the 9MP would end this year.

In Segambut alone, there are still more than 30 projects planned under the 9MP have not even started including the Jalan Segambut widening project. I believe there are hundreds more projects nationwide which share the same fate.

Whilst some of the projects are not completed, the funds allocated are gone.

Tenth Malaysia Plan will start next year and these situations will repeat again unless the country’s top leaders are changed in the next general election.

Ever since you were elected as our MP, the roads in TTDi has been filled with pot holes and is at its worst condition. The residents of TTDi will greatly appreciate our elected MP if he fix the roads here. The roads here have not been this bad not since you took over. please act with haste. TQ

Even though Anonymous (12.16pm, January 10, 2010) did not mentioned the exact locations, I have a very good idea where s/he is referring to as I am a resident of TTDI too. The locations with the worst potholes are at Jalan Burhanuddin Helmi (the very worst), Jalan Datuk Sulaiman and Jalan Leong Yew Koh.

However, if you study the locations of the potholes, you'll realised that they are actually on the bus routes. These potholes (always the same spots) are actually caused by the RapidKL buses which spill the diesel through their exhaust pipes when they accelerate. The spilt diesel would dissolve the road material resulting in big potholes.

It would be better if the Segambut MP have a dialogue with RapidKL (along with DBKL if possible) to fix their buses so that there is no diesel wastage and no potholes would not recur ever. Alternatively, get CVLB or the relevant authority to force RapidKL to fix their buses.

Since RapidKL buses travel the length of the Klang Valley, the Segambut MP would be doing a favour to many other areas if RapidKL really does the necessary repairs/modifications and the solution works.
