Police Reports Lodged Against Police Reports
Today, I joined my comrades from PAS and PKR Segambut in lodging 3 separate police reports at IPD Sentul against the police reports lodged by The Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia (PPIM) and the Islamic NGOs, Heritage Associations, Malay Cultural Organisations and Related Bodies Cooperation Network (Pewaris) yesterday where they alleged that MP Seputeh, YB Teresa Kok who is now under ISA arrest, had tried to prohibit the azan call at mosques and suraus in Kota Damansara, Sri Serdang and Puchong Jaya. (http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2008/9/15/nation/2029680&sec=nation)
Teresa Kok had on 10 September 2008 already publicly denied her involvement in the allegation and yet, PPIM and Pewaris still raised the azan issue in their police report yesterday despite many similar police reports either against or for Teresa Kok have been lodged by various parties.
Hence the sole intention of our police reports today is to ask for police investigation into the police reports of PPIM and Pewaris whether they have breached the law under Sections 191, 193 and 298A(1) of the Penal Code i.e. they have given false statement and attempted to prejudice, or is likely to prejudice, the maintenance of harmony or unity among the society.
We have also asked for written reply from the police in this matter.
