Inaugural Merdeka Sports and Family Day @ TTDI Long House

The Residents’ Association of Bukit Kiara (Long House) at Taman Tun Dr Ismail organised its inaugural Merdeka Sports and Family Day on Aug 31.

The Merdeka Sports and Family Day, held for the first time in the Long House’s 26 years history, started at 7:30am and ended at midnight. It was organised to promote unity, fitness and to build patriotic fervour among residents in the neighbourhood.

The event was a success as it saw a huge turnout of almost all the residents from the Long House, ranging from age of five to the adults. Residents from all ages pitted their skills in various sports activities. Entry is free to the participants.

Residents’ Association chairman cum organising chairman V. Sunderam said this event, which coincided with the National Day celebration, hopefully will be continued every year and to be even much bigger.

I am proud to be invited to present awards to the winners. I hope the organiser will continue the good work in the future because the event is a good platform to have a good time with the neighbours and to foster patriotism.

V. Sunderam also said the organising committee will need the support of sponsors in all forms to make the event an annual success.

Though government has not allocated fund to all parliamentarians, I were happy to sponsor RM2,000 to the organising committee, especially with the objective to unite people from all races.

Kuala Lumpur city hall also lends a big hand by providing tents and sound system.
