Would you mind to make the same issue on the maintenance of hygiene and landscape of the playground at Jalan Lang Hitam 2, Kepong Baru? I had lodged a report to DBKL about the bad hygiene and the landscape's maintenance. In addition, the basketball rings for the basketball court had not been repaired for years. The light post has not been seen functioning since it was built. The report no. is 0598/11/2009. Thank you.

The playground was badly maintained where the grasses had grown very bushy. The basketball rings had not been repaired for years. The light post had not seen functioning since it was built. I had lodged a report to DBKL with report no. 0598/11/2009, but no action from the DBKL authorities was seen. Thank you.

Dear YB,

Thank you very much for sharing the letter highlighting the issues that you're going to raise up with the mayor. It adds to your level of transparency to your constituents with regards to your interactions with DBKL.

I understand that with only 2 hours of meeting available and many other KL MPs involved, the time allocated to you would be quite short and that's assuming that the other MPs keep to time too.

Thus, it is understandable why you're raising only 10 issues when there are problems in Segambut parliamentary area that numbered many times more.

However, in my opinion, it's quite unproductive to discuss about localised problems with the mayor as these are the job of those under him (eg the deputy DG for service and the numerous department directors). Instead, I hope there is an in-depth discussion (and agreement to implement) on a mechanism that you can use to enable such issues to be resolved during the long intervals between these scarce meetings with the mayor.

For example, may I suggest that a DBKL liaison officer (if there is none now) to be appointed to take in everyday issues from the KL MPs and disseminate to the responsible departments for action in addition to making the necessary follow-ups. If the FT Minister have one such officer, I'm sure DBKL can spare another.

If there is an issue in resolving the problem, the responsible DBKL officer or even the process itself should be identified and then only raised up during the meeting with the mayor who is the highest authority having the clout to make necessary changes.

With only 3 meetings so far, there is such little precious time in seeking the mayor's action to be spend on these short-term recurring problems. They could be better spent in coming out with lasting solutions.

Of course, it is easier said than done but a journey of a thousand miles must starts with the first step.
